Each year, the Bryan Innovation Lab Visiting Innovators program brings real-world experts to campus and provides educational opportunities for our students and families. On October 6-8, the school welcomed Visiting Innovators Audrey Wright and Geoff Robertson.

In the BlackBox Theatre on October 6, the pair presented “Luminous Being,” an evening of creative expression. Ms. Wright, a violinist with the New York Philharmonic and the concertmaster of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, delighted the audience of parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends with a multi-sensory performance that included a sound-responsive light-filled garment created by Mr. Robertson.

Following the performance, Mr. Robertson, a New York City-based artist, hosted the unveiling of one of his recent works, "The Pellet," a sculpture created out of repurposed materials, in the Bryan Innovation Lab.

These Visiting Innovators spent October 7 with Steward students in all divisions. Ms. Wright performed “Luminous Being,” and she and Mr. Robertson joined students in an exploration of the wonders of art and music.

“Steward community members of all ages were captivated by Audrey and Geoff’s talent,” said Brad Kovach, dean of the Bryan Innovation Lab. “They are enormously enthusiastic and inventive, and our students especially enjoyed hearing the stories behind their careers and engaging with their music and art.”

On October 8, Mr. Robertson was a guest lecturer in Mr. Kovach’s Upper School engineering class. He led students through some of the steps he took to write the computer code that powers Ms. Wright’s “Luminous Being” garment.

“We are so grateful to Audrey and Geoff for sharing their time and talent with us,” said Mr. Kovach.
