Mission

The mission of the Bryan Innovation Lab is to inspire creativity, curiosity, and collaboration by offering hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in order to empower students, faculty, staff, and the broader Steward and Richmond communities. We believe that inquiry, combined with a strong sense of agency and a balance of hard and soft skills, is the key to fostering innovation and preparing our learners to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Vision

We envision the Bryan Innovation Lab as a place where students are immersed in meaningful learning that bridges the gap between theory and practice. By engaging in hands-on projects and exploring interdisciplinary challenges, students develop critical thinking skills, resilience, and a deeper understanding of their role in shaping the world. This unique facility and programming will strengthen the knowledge and awareness that we are all part of a greater system and have the opportunity to play a significant role in finding solutions to challenges we face together.

Philosophy

We believe that the most meaningful learning is experiential, authentic, and interdisciplinary. When students take an active role in their education, they gain a sense of ownership and excitement that’s hard to replicate in a traditional classroom. The Bryan Innovation Lab fosters this approach by encouraging students to actively engage with their environment and community through inquiry, experimentation, and real-world application. This gives students the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, make iterations, and grow through both success and failure.

By promoting collaboration with peers, mentors, and community members, we build a culture of shared learning that encourages students to take risks, ask questions, and develop solutions to complex problems. Our diverse and flexible spaces empower students to explore new ideas, push boundaries, and take ownership of their educational journey. These unconventional experiences help our community feel prepared and confident for the future.
