At the beginning of each school year, all Steward students participate in a school tradition: signing the Honor Code. By doing so, Spartans pledge that they will abide by the principles of the Honor Code, including honesty and integrity. On September 5, Middle and Upper School students and their division directors and teachers signed the Honor Code in the Lora M. Robins Theatre.
Nathan Gu ’25, the Upper School Honor Council president, shared his thoughts during the signing when he stated, “After a great deal of thought and reflection, I have come to understand that honor transcends individual belief and instead is a shared value. It is a value that we should all hold ourselves to and a value that we should take pride in and cherish. So, let us not think of honor as some anchor that binds us to qualities of uniformity and discipline but instead as a catalyst of freedom and creativity.”
Director of Middle School Susan Atkinson said, “In her speech welcoming Middle Schoolers to the signing, Kara Freed ’29, Middle School Student Council president, urged her classmates to strive to be kind, truthful, and respectful every day." Upper School Division Director Bobby Pollicino added, “The Honor Code is central to everything we do at Steward, and I am impressed by our students’ commitment to upholding it.”
Lower Schoolers and their division director and teachers signed the Honor Code during an assembly on September 20 in the Lora M. Robins Theatre.
“Our Lower Schoolers were excited to sign the Honor Code,” said Lower School Director Becky Groves. “They know that pledging to uphold Steward’s values helps strengthen our school community. There were proud smiles all around during this charming school tradition.”
We are proud of all our students and their commitment to each other and the wider community.
