Standout Spartans: Librarians Carlee Cutchin and Crystal Hamlin
The Steward School
Conference inspires fresh ideas
Lower School Librarian Carlee Cutchin and Middle/Upper School Librarian Crystal Hamlin attended the annual Virginia Association of School Librarians conference, which took place November 1-3 in Chantilly, Va. The theme of the conference was “Librarians are essential for student success!”
The conference featured author keynotes and more than 100 sessions from school librarians from across the state. Ms. Hamlin, who serves as the webmaster for the VAASL website and also helps with their social media, helped plan the conference and was in charge of the digital conference (an option for attendees).
“We met lots of authors (including children’s author Jarrett Lerner) and attended eight sessions presented by Virginia school librarians on topics such as AI, library displays on a budget, punk rock poetry, and more,” said Ms. Hamlin. “We are energized by what we experienced and excited to bring fresh ideas to our students!”
