Standout Spartan: Jackson Rhamy '24

The Steward School
Hard work yields prestigious honor
We are so proud of Jackson Rhamy ’24, who won the Joseph Adams Senior Scholarship for college from the National Hispanic Honor Society. Roughly 3,000 Hispanic Honor Society chapters each nominate one candidate for this prestigious honor, and Jackson was one of 12 recipients chosen!

Nominees were required to submit a portfolio that included an essay written in Spanish; a five-minute video in Spanish; two letters of recommendation; school transcripts; and a list of school and extracurricular activities.

Jackson, who hopes to major in English in college and pursue interdisciplinary studies in foreign languages and literature, said that learning Spanish "revealed another world full of unique dialects and cultures and books, which has changed my outlook on life."

Upper School World Language Teacher Marina Escamez-Ballesta, the faculty advisor for Steward’s chapter of the Hispanic Honor Society, is proud of Jackson’s commitment to his Spanish-language development.

“He is the inaugural president of our chapter and is deserving of his highly competitive award,” she said. “I had no doubt that he was going to be selected, as his skills are outstanding.”
