Standout Spartan: Jeffrey Sproull '26

The Richmond Forum, which brings some of the most influential names in the world to take the stage, also provides the opportunity for high-achieving junior students to apply to be a Richmond Forum Scholar. Only five students are selected each year for this honor, which allows them to interact with keynote speakers and work behind the scenes. This year, Jeffrey Sproull ’26 was selected as a Scholar following a rigorous application process that included submitting a resume and attending an interview.

“I was elated to find out I had been chosen as a Scholar,” said Jeffrey. “It was so exciting that I tripped on the door frame as I ran out of my room to show my mom the email.” 

Jeffrey, a member of Steward’s Leadership Program, looks forward to interacting with and learning “from some of the most esteemed people on the planet. I’m sure that having a discussion with any of the speakers will be very constructive for me.” Among this season’s Forum speakers are Soledad O’Brien, Martha Steward, and Coach K.

Upper School Social Studies Teachers Jim Haske and Jalyn Wheatley co-sponsor the Upper School Richmond Forum Club. Mr. Haske said, “This is a well-deserved honor for Jeffrey. He truly put in the time and effort throughout the application process, and we are extremely proud of him.” 

Jeffrey, a dedicated student, also runs cross country, swims, and plays lacrosse. 

“There are a plethora of activities I participate in at Steward that have helped me develop my leadership skills,” he added. “The most notable of these is the Leadership Program. Last year, a group project involved contacting a Richmond non-profit and setting up a volunteer opportunity. The experience of communicating professionally with people outside my established circles was very beneficial to me.”
