Donors Urgently Needed for the October 3 Blood Drive

NOTE: The location of the blood drive has changed. It will take place in Steeber Commons (in the Upper School).

The Stewardship Club will host a blood drive on Tuesday, October 3 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in Steeber Commons (in the Upper School). All adult members of the Steward community are welcome to participate, as are students who are at least 17 (or 16, with a signed parental consent form). The Red Cross is in critical need of Type O Negative Black donors, as well as Type U Negative Black donors.  Read information for teen donors. Make an appointment online by using the sponsor code “TSS.” You can also explore RapidPass, which allows donors to complete pre-donation health history questions online on the day of the drive.

The American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage. Summer travel, back-to-school, and an active hurricane season have hindered blood donations, resulting in a shortfall of about 30,000 blood donations in August alone. Your help is needed! Bonus: Donors will receive a $15 Amazon gift card by email. 

“One of the core values of The Steward School is that we encourage students to make meaningful connections with each other and with the community beyond our campus,” said Upper School Math Teacher Barbara Filler, who sponsors the Stewardship Club. “Our club emphasizes the importance of community outreach. Donating blood is an easy way to make a difference in someone else’s life.”
