Carlee Cutchin, Lower School librarian at The Steward School
Introducing Our New Lower School Librarian, Ms. Carlee Cutchin!
The Steward School welcomes new faculty member Carlee Cutchin in her post as Lower School librarian.
Following Betty Enright's retirement last month, The Steward School conducted a search for a new Lower School librarian that sent many qualified candidates our way. Ms. Carlee Cutchin's warmth and deep knowledge of library science and children's literature made her a standout in the field of applicants. A graduate of Virginia Tech, and holding a Master of Science degree in library and information science from the University of Kentucky, Ms. Cutchin will begin her tenure at Steward on Wednesday, November 11.
Read on to learn a little more about Ms. Cutchin in her own words, and please join us in welcoming her to the Steward community!
Q&A WITH MS. CUTCHIN
Q: What's your favorite part of being a librarian?
A: "Helping! Nothing brings me more joy than finding a book for a reluctant reader, helping a student find a book on a topic 'we probably don't have,' or helping a child find joy in illustrations. I believe helping is the core of librarianship, and that's why I love it."
Q: Who's your favorite children’s author?
A: "Mo Willems. I also have an endless list of honorable mentions. It includes Jan Thomas, Kwame Alexander, Beverly Cleary, Aaron Blabey, L.M. Montgomery, Raina Telgemeier, and Jacqueline Woodson."
Q: What excites you the most about joining the Steward community?
A: "I am most excited about the community as a whole. The time I have spent on campus has been warm and inviting. I am excited to foster relationships in the library and all around campus!"
