There’s a team of sports enthusiasts that meets throughout the year and always comes in first place: the Spartan Club!

You’ve probably noticed these spirited volunteers at the concession stand during athletic games and tournaments. Most of their work, however, takes place behind the scenes. Spartan Club leaders collaborate with the athletics department to support Steward’s teams. In the 2023-24 school year, their hard work provided: 

The Spartan Club currently includes about 60 families. Members pay annual dues and are invited (but not required) to volunteer with the athletic program. The Club includes four subcommittees: golf, concessions, membership, and (new in 2024) special events. The 20th anniversary Spartan Golf Classic in 2023 sold out and raised $67,000; the 2024 Spartan Golf Classic will be held on October 28.

The Club welcomes new members! Chuck Wingfield, president of the Club and father of Chase ’23, Mason ’31, and Spencer ’25, said, “We have a great time supporting Steward athletics because we know that sports can help build character, empathy, and confidence. Spartan Club members can volunteer as little or as much as their schedules allow. I encourage parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends of Steward to contact me for more information. Let’s work together in Spartan pride!”
