March 25 at Steward: Visiting Innovator Michael Tennant

Each year, the Bryan Innovation Lab brings real-world experts — scientists, artists, writers, creators, change-makers — to campus to share their time and talent with students and families. On March 25, Steward will welcome Michael Tennant, founder and CEO of Curiosity Lab, a purpose-driven venture studio that builds products and experiences that teach empathy. Creator of the empathy card game “Actually Curious,” and author of “The Power of Empathy,” Mr. Tennant dedicates his work to fostering deeper human connections through dialogue and understanding. 

Through an interactive empathy card game and a hands-on design thinking sprint, students in all divisions will engage deeply with the concepts of understanding others, effective communication, and creative problem-solving.

Bryan Innovation Lab Dean Brad Kovach said, “Michael’s work in empathy building aligns closely with Steward’s 2024-25 schoolwide theme of ‘dialogue,’ and with the school’s core values (innovation, inspiration, care & respect, individuality, academic achievement, and civil discourse). We are delighted that he will join us on campus.” 

Mr. Tennant will also host a public after-school Make and Take event on March 25 from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the Bryan Innovation Lab in which families (both Steward and non-Steward) can engage in hands-on activities centered around kindness, empathy, and design thinking, including an opportunity to play “Actually Curious.” Participants can also enjoy a sweet treat.
